Definition: The smallest unit of an element that retains the properties of that element.

Example (Ethiopian context): In Ethiopian industries, atoms of iron and carbon combine to create steel used in construction.

Definition: A substance formed when two or more elements are chemically bonded.

Molecule

Definition: A group of atoms bonded together representing the smallest unit of a chemical compound.
